My first painting, a cartoon-like image of a leopard kitten (posted here), was done about 1965 as a tag-along with my mother in her art class. From there, the mold was cast. I never had a summer job as a teen. Instead, I sold my artwork at local shows. It could be oil paintings, colored pencil sketches, ceramic fish and birds mounted on driftwood or rocks, wire sculptures or mobiles. It all intrigued me...and still does. But I lost many of my best works many years ago and decided against taking my kiln with me in my latest cross-country move. Today, I find myself being revisited by my desire to capture nature through my eye and my hand, manipulating the oil paints with nothing more than my palette and painting knives...and my imagination.

Some painters transform the sun into a yellow spot, others transform a yellow spot into the sun.
